"Earl was one you would want along side of you when the shooting started. He could hold his own and more. He loved tipperillo cigars, was constantly reading paperback books, and loathed for the C Ration pound cake. With all the hoopla about September 11, 2001 it is ironic that he died on September 11, 1966 and not much was said. He was killed when a barage of US 105mm was dumped on the second platoon of B Company."
