Comments: GREAT STUFF! The pics of "The Mountain" bring back memories. Just another Shake 'N Bake E-5, A Company, 65th Engineers at Dau Tieng. Pulled a bunch of tracks out of Sui Dau Oct 1970 that were bogged in mud. We flew in several bridges and managed to shoot down what I think was the only Flying Crane to go down during the war when we detonated a blast below it. Fortunately it and crew managed to survive. Those were the days. PIO took a photo of us moving in bridgework that ran in 25th's Newspaper. Anyone having a copy would make my day. Keep up the good work.

Comments: Great site, Randy! I only have a handful of photos from my tour with Co. D, 2nd/12th from Sept. 69 to Sept. 70. I was a Shake n Bake and spent time in Cu Chi, FSB Pershing, Ho Bo & Boi Loi Woods, Trang Bang, the Rubber Plantation at Dau Tieng, and a couple of months on the top and sides of the Black Virgin Mountain. Want to take my wife on your photo tour so she can see some of the places I mentioned in my letters home. I met her in Daytona Beach, Florida a week before I shipped out and really got to know her through the mail. Ten years later, we finally decided to marry. Now thirty years later, she'll finally get to see the AO I described. Again, thanks for the good work and Welcome Home!

Comments: First Tour, I Drove Medical Supplies from Tay Ninh to Long Bien and back to Tay Ninh, for 45th Surgical Hospitol, and unloaded the WIA's and KIA's, 1968 - 1969. In 1968 45th Had 68 MASS CASUALTIES, 25th Inf. Fighting on Nue Bau Dinh (Black Virgin Mountain) In 1969 45th Had 124 MASS CASUALTIES, 25th Inf. and 1st CAV. Fighting on Nue Bau Dinh. In 1969 1st Cav. 6 Hooches got hit with 4 B-40 Soviet made rockets, that leveled the Hooches, after putting the fire out along with many others, we looked for wounded and found none, accross the street there was a good movie playing, BONNIE & CLIDE, so I guess if there was a bad movie we would have had casualties, GOD was watching out for us that night. Second Tour, I Moved Fire Bases, and Hauled Powder & Projoes, 26,500 miles all over South Viet Nam in 7 months til ETS, 86th trans co., Long Bien, 1970 - 1971.

Comments: just a comment--while with the 2/14th infantry in 1966, we were on a sweep of the boi loi woods and at the end of a long hot boring day of following the the cat in front of you, we were told that we would be picked up by a unit of the 5th mech. as we linked up with the bobcats one of our guys noticed a king cobra poking its head above the tall grass in the clearing. soon several other of our boonie rats were calling out the locations of other kings as they popped up. goes without saying that it did not take long for all us tired souls to get in and on the waiting tracks and di-di mau. anyway, i know it was before your time but thanks for the ride!

In fact , my LT. was releived of his comand for refusing to send us out on ambush during Christmas of 1970.My next LT came from B company but I don't rember his name. I do remember fire base Swarze. In Feb. or March of 71 our cp was heavily mortared and we took some KIAS and lots of WIAS We had just left firebase Swarze once, and it started taking mortars. We sat on small hill and watched, We could hear the VCs mortars leaving the tubs so we saddled up and went after them , to no avail. I have really enjoyed your site.Viet Nam lives with me every day.I grew up and became an old man in one year.Do you have any idea why my LT came from B co?

Comments: Dear Sir, I really enjoyed seeing some of your memories, in a way to help complement my own. As a new soldier from the United States Military Academy, where I am a fourth class cadet (my first year here), I am trying to find as much about my profession as I can. The pictures helped to convey some very strong emotions, and I think they can teach more than any book. My thanks and blessings to you. Respectfully, Cadet Derek M. Can't remember the exact time frame but it was between June 1970 and November 1970. At least one of the guys had been hit by a claymore. Anyone?

Comments: Randy Stumbling onto your web page after all these years was quite a shock. I remember Jumpin' Jack Flash well as it was the 22 Track and I was the E-5 in charge of the 24 track " EASY RIDER". What is so disturbing is that I was scheduled to take out the ambush the day Ellis,Harter and DiBartolomeo Were killed. In fact I went through their personal belongings to make sure that there were no surprises for their relatives prior to sending it back to the World. I had taken out several ambushes in the same area prior to Ellis taking out his first and final ambush(he was just promoted to E-5). They Finally sent me to the rear due to receiving three Purple Hearts. Unfortunately Ellis used the same route as several previous ambushes due to the poor Laager site on that little hill. The CPT had No clue. Poor Ellis never even met his new baby who was born a few weeks before his death. Your pictures brought back many memories I even recognized Sgt. Green and Piergossi who I think was your driver. I sure have a lot of stories about those two. I share your grief for your squad mates. Easy rider lost Dave Hensel and Clyde Lawrence on 5/16/70 In Cambodia. In fact I was dusted off with thier bodies. It was a crappy war but the grunts had guts. RA

Comments: I would like to thank you for sharing your pictures/experiences. My older brother, Robin L. Varney was killed in Vietnam in 1967. He was 20 years old. This last year, at the age of 48, I returned to college and took a history class on Vietnam with mostly 18-20 year olds. It will be remembered as the best class I have ever taken. It was very emotional, and I admit to some sleepless nights recalling the events surrounding my brother's death. I also have guilt feelings for shutting out what was going on during that time period because it was too painful to think about. I sincerely appreciate the men and women who share their personal and painful war experiences with the rest of us so we can try to understand. I have a 20 year old son and cannot begin to imagine him in a place like Vietnam. I give my thanks to all vets and assurance that I will never forget the sacrifices made by so many.

CommentsGreat site...I served with 2/77th Arty @Dau Tieng from 9/66 to 9/67. Later served with 173 Abn Bde at LZ Uplift and later English. I was with the 2/77th when the 272 VC regiment engaged them @ LZ Gold. I personally was not in the field on the morning of 3/21/67, but the battalion and the 2/22 mech kicked their buts back to cambodia leaving behind over 600 kia in front of the tubes. I worked for the DVA for 20 years after I got out of the Army in 1971. While rating cases I came accross a denial of a clain for SFW of the eye by Earl Haupt. The condition was not found in his SMR'S. I personnally saw earl's wound, and I will write a testimonial should he happen to view this web page, or if someone who knows him and his location were to contact me. I think he last lived in Jay, Florida........keep up the good work.

CommentsActually found your site through the 159th Dustoff homepage. Thanx for the pix, bittersweet, if you know what I mean. I arrived in Cu Chi in may 70. flew out of Cu Chi, Tay Ninh and some little firebase that only had a couple battery's of howitzers, can't remember the name. I was a crewchief and was wondering if anybody from the 25th remembers a mission that we went on in the Hobo woods, (least that's what we called them, suspect they might have actually been the boho woods). Anyway, my CO tried to have me courtmartialed for that mission but they dropped the charges. We were called out for 5 urgent US's and it was raining lightly and the cloud cover was so low that the gunships couldn't cover for us. It was the first time I had to use the Jungle Penetrator, and I couldn't lean out of the ship to see what I needed to see on the ground, I was afraid I'd pitch forward out of the ship. I solved this problem by climbing out onto the skids. we didn't have safety lines or such. The first guy looked like he had been hit by a claymore, he had all these marble sized holes in his upper arm and shoulder. I don't remember how bad the others were, he's the one I remember. We had gotten some aboard and I was sending the jp down again, when there was an explosion in the trees near us and the pilot panicked and took off, I reeled the jp in while the guys on the ground were screaming at us "Dustoff, where are you going, come back" The pilot regained his composure and we circled and came right back. I climbed out again and we finished the job. Unfortunately, the rain got into my intercom jack and the static was distracting me from picking up the last guy or two, so I unplugged, I didn't think to tell the pilot to watch my side of the ship and we tapped the top of a tree with the main rotor. This set up a vibration in the ship that we could feel and scared the shit out of the pilot and AC, who decided I should be courtmartialled for not doing my job. I was later told that the guys on the ground put me in for an award and that was probably why I wasn't court martialled. My CO got his chance later when I fragged his chicken shit ass, and i was given five years at Ft. Leavenworth and a Dishonorable Discharge. My CO persecuted me and took me off flight status because I embarrased him in front of the Bn CO, his boss. He was that kind of a weasel. This is true, he was pilot on a mission that one of our medics had to hold a pistol on him to get him to stay on the ground long enough to load the wounded, he almost took off leaving his own crewmember on the ground too. Anyway, I sure would like to hear from anybody who remembers that mission, where I stood out on the skids. i've been carrying this DD on my back for 27 years and you can't get them upgraded. I want it off and I was thinkin that if I could get some support from others who remember that mission and would be willing to add their voices to whatever I can try to do to get rid of this curse. Oh yeah, I wasn't trying to kill my co , I was trying to scare him into letting me go home. I had finally gotten a discharge from the nam and I was waiting for my orders, when he pulled a shakedown targeted specifically at me and put me in for a Special Courtmartial for possesion of marijuana. That put my discharge on hold and was the last straw that caused me to try the stupid fragging.

CommentsRandy, just finishing my first, and unfortunately hasty, visit. You've done a terrific job! Will be back many times I'm sure. Did not have a chance to view your picture story yet but from all the comments can't wait to get back. I, too, was one who took/brough home no pictures. Here's how my thinking worked "back then" as a FNG just "in country". Because of an immediately violent start arriving in country, I was reduced to tears and couldn't imagine surviving another 364 days if the first day was like this...it was then that I decided to be a "survivor" NO MATTER what that meant...ridicule, embarassment, shame, and other things that are too embarassing still to put into words...because I figured I wouldn't survive a year, what's the point of photos; if I did survive, I was already telling myself that I didn't want the reminders or memories that photos would bring...funny how we thought so many years ago...now it seems I go through phases when I just can't seem to get enough visual memories of Vietnam. Oh well. TO: Jim Page...Jim, you mentioned Dau Tieng and Ben Cui in August 68 where we won the PUC...I was there and call tell you quite abit. I think about this engagement often and would too like to talk to others who were there. The worst of this battle kicked off when Bravo and Charlie Companies were returning to Dau Tieng base camp and they got hit in a daylight ambush. Bravo Company "ran through" the ambush but Charlie Company mistakenly thought the worst lie ahead and thought they could turn around and go back...they unfortunately did turn around and ran right back through the killing zone, this time getting stopped and pinned down. It was not good. Charlie Company and Bravo Company took many casualties. What was left of Bravo Company, Recon, and some HHC personnel went back out to reinforce and resupply, and they too met with heavy fire including hand-to-hand and close quarters fighting. As night came, survivors returned to Dau Tieng. Because of immobilized 113's, munitions and equipment Phantom air strikes were called in on the whole area. An entire platoon of Charlie Company was MIA that evening, later found the next day all KIA, further into the woods rather than in the direction of Dau Tieng base camp. The next day brought everyone to the perimeter of Dau Tieng base camp with four duece mortar platoon and probably everything else in the vicinity hammering away at the woods. By late morning, Recon, a reconstitued Bravo Company (I think...I don't think Alpha Company was in Dau Tieng at the time) along with as many as two hundred Wolfhounds on-board and two twin-40mm dusters headed back out. This engagement again saw fierce combat with three human wave attacks directly into the dusters, Wolfhounds, and all involved. I heard BC was around 176 in less than an hour and a-half. I believe it was either the 271st or 272nd NVA Regiment who we were up against. This battle ended what had started in the ambush the day before. We (1/5th Mech) all returned to our area within Dau Tieng base camp later that day. I'll never forget that feeling...god, we were licked and down, it was not a good situation. In any case, that's what I remember about the whole thing. Hope others can find affirmation for their experiences either here or in similar battles. God Bless our fallen friends and God Bless those of us who came home! We have a bond Brothers, we were there, we know...

CommentsHey Randy, just me Bill. Thanks again for responding to my message the other day. I'm visiting your web site today. In fact just came in and am writing this...haven't looked around yet. I know already I'm going to like what I find. Please know how much I appreciate your efforts to make sometime like this possible in order that we can exercise our curiosities about our Vietnam experience...that experience that just keeps hangin' in there and doesn't ever seem to go away fully. For the rest of you Bobcats, I'm always thinking about you...I was with HHC 1st Bn/5th Inf (Mech) Mar68/Mar69. Trying to find Ray Barker (Aliquippa, PA), Bob Brouillette (Woonsocket, RI) or Danny Forgione (Sayville, LI, NY), WO Capt. Kirshner (S-4) and others with HHC during that time. CommentsRandy, I will be sending you a couple pages of questions soon, I appreciate your willingness to help me! Can I use some of the great photos from your site? I'd always heard of guys driving the track from the , but never seen how it was done. I have to write an analysis of a battalion level action during Vietnam as part of my studies. As a former Bobcat myself, I decided to go with the battalion's action in August 1968 near Ben Cui (it won the PUC there). The infantry school library, a superb source for everything usually, doesn't have a SINGLE source for the Bobcats, nothing!!!!!!! The only mention of you guys is in a division "yearbook". If I can get info on this engagement it will be added to the permanent collection! Can you put me in contact with any Bobcat that was there.

CommentsHi Randy, I was looking thru the map room (Maps-VVHP) & I sent a message to Jay Ebert thanking him for all of the good work in it and happened to mention that I have been looking for 5th Mech info for years. He did a search with infoseek and came up with your web site and sent it to me. I've scaned thru your site a little, very well done! I was in D Co 75th Spt Bn (Armament Sect) 1/5th from early May "70 to mid May '71. My MOS was Tank Turret but also ended up with Field Arty making up the majority of the work. Did a fair amt of choppering as well as driving to different FSB's and bases in Dong Ha, C-4,A-2, Cam Lo, Mai Loc too. Participated in Lam Son 719/Dewey Canyon 2 and was at Vandergrifth (was the replacement for Chuck Montross when he was killed by the rocket along with the 2 others) then went to Khe Sahn for the remainder of the duration. At Khe Sahn we were located across the road from the hospital, there were 3 of us there from the armament sect to the end of the involvement. Drove back in the convoy (3/4 ton) w/o brakes!!! I finally stopped the vehicle by banging into a 5/4 t trailer, during the convoy back to Quang Tri. I joined the reserves after I got out and had 22 yrs in. While in the reserves I got a chance to travel to many bases here in the states as well as in europe. The museum at Ft Campbell is a fabulous one but I felt very slighted when I went as one would get the impression that they were the only unit there and to think that they had our base at Quang Tri as their forward Hq really added insult to injury. Regards, Gary Lee

CommentsRandy, Your page doesn't say when you were in Viet Nam. What was the year(s)? I was with the 1/5th from 1/2/67 until 12/22/67. I was first with Co A as a platoon leader until I got in the way of some hot, flying metal and spent the next three weeks in a hospital in Vung Tau. I then served in HHQ Co until returning to the field as S-3(Air) under Col Goodnow. Three Purple Hearts later, it's hard to imagine that any of us returned after spending a year atop one of those 13 ton "mogator" magnets!! Great website,Randy. Keep up the good work. Best regards to all of our comrades at arms.

I DEROSed (May 1971) on the last day when the regiment finally stood down. I had always regretted not taking as many pictures as I could. Now thanks to you I have an album that I can "show" to others so they can see what it was like to be a "Bobcat". Your efforts have been a great gift to me but above all you have greatly helped in sustaining the memory of those who served with the highest honor and made the greatest sacrifice. They brought honor not only to the unit and our country but to all people who value freedom. GOD bless them and their families!

Looked at everyone of your pic's and read every caption, have one word to say, well maybe two "WELCOME HOME" Brother. It is really something in some ways, almost have the exact same pic's, of the same area, the same things, but just at a little different time. Interesting to se some of the changes that were also made after I was there. And yes, we will never forget those Brother's that didn't make it home, and Sisters. Nor will we let anyone else forget their sacrifices. God Bless you and your family. Just happen to be at work this a.m. and was looking at our 25th WEB site and clicked on your link. Nice Job. I served as Plt Ldr, 2nd Platoon, Co A, under Cpt Bill Pelfrey from 1/2/67 until 5/4/67 when I ran into a piece of flying, hot metal and spent a couple of weeks at the 95th Evac hospital in Vung Tau. Upon return to Cu Chi, I took over command of HHC until LTC Goodnow asked me to come back out to the field in June as battalion S-3(Air). During this wonderful time that we spent in this tropical paradise, I got shot out the air once, blown out of three tracks and blown up in one of the trench complexes. All in all it definitely was a memorable experience. Does anyone know whatever happened to LTC Goodnow?

CommentsJust doing a bit of research on what our Commandante missed. I loved your Site. Thank-you for taking the time to make it (I pulled a 364 and some other high number for lotto twice in the draft, so I was more fortunate, I suppose)... NAVY MARS Op N0XJL. You have my greatest respect. I was looking for some pics for a Site which had a descriptive from Stever Ferrar's book (where he describes a simile for modern families to a platoon working its way through a jungle in Vietnam). May I use one of your pics if I have no faces in it? Or do you hvae one which is the backs of men's heads headed into the jungle? Again, thank-you... very informative.

My wife is the webmaster of our site and she is graphics- happy by her own admission but must be enough people stick around to view my site (how slow IS your puter anyway?) cuz I get an awful lot of emails, guestbook signatures and awards! She did just break up some of my site by putting the awards on a seperate page or it would have taken you even LONGER to view it! :-) Guess I'll have to suggest she break it up even more. I'll go back and surf your site a little more now. AIRBORNE ALL THE WAY!!!

I have a friend who was in the 5th Mech in 67-68.I was with the 2nd Platoon Charlie Co. 1/27INF (Wolfhounds) from Oct67-Oct68.Yes, I still remember places like the Iron Triangle, BoiLoi Woods, HoBo Woods, Trang Bang, Hoc Mon,etc.I recall humping the 'bush under an unmercifully hot sun and going on ambush or LP at night. The mosquitoes, leeches and the fire ants. I sometimes remember the firefights....and the intensity of TET. Lets us never forget our fallen brothers and keep their families in our prayers. To this very moment, I give thanks to Almighty God for keeping me alive.

CommentsThis is a poem I gave to my brother (Jerry Watson) . He was on a river boat. He is just now "coming home". SURVIVE THE SURVIVING I KNOW I WASN'T THERE WHEN YOU CAME BACK FROM WAR, PROBABLY COULDN'T HAVE BEEN ANYWAY, I COULDN'T EVEN DRIVE A CAR. IF I'D HAVE KNOWN THE TIME OR THE DATE OF YOUR RETURN, SOMEHOW, I'D HAVE BEEN THERE TO HELP YOU MAKE THAT TURN. THE TURN BACK HOME FROM HELL AND THE NIGHTMARE OVER THERE THE THINGS YOU HAD BEEN THROUGH, NO ONE WAS AWARE. I KNEW NOT OF THE SCORN, THE PEOPLE FILLED WITH HATE, I GUESS I JUST WOKE UP, I PRAY IT'S NOT TOO LATE. YOU NEVER LET US KNOW OF THE TORMENT AND THE PAIN THE TIMES YOU SHOOK FROM FEAR WAITING, SHIVERING IN THE RAIN THE PAIN YOU MUST HAVE FELT AS YOU WATCHED YOUR BROTHERS FALL, IS SOMEHOW NOT AS BAD AS SURVIVING THROUGH IT ALL. YOU WERE A HERO THEN, ALTHOUGH YOU DIDN'T KNOW YOUR A BIGGER HERO NOW AS EMOTIONS START TO SHOW WITH HELL HIDDEN DEEP INSIDE I NEVER QUESTIONED WHY, YOU THOUGHT WE DIDN'T CARE AS 25 YEARS FLEW BY. I GUESS I DIDN'T KNOW EXACTLY WHAT TO SAY, ALTHOUGH SOMEHOW I KNEW, YOUR WERE HURTING EVERY DAY. I THANK GOD DEEPLY NOW, FOR THE CHANGING OF YOUR HEART, AND ASK HIM ALL THE TIME TO LET ME DO MY PART. I ONCE SAID THAT MY BROTHER, COULD NOT BE MY BEST FRIEND I KNOW NOW I WAS WRONG SO HERE'S WHAT I INTEND. I DEDICATE MY LIFE, MY HEART, MY MIND, AND SOUL, TO YOU MY BROTHER, UNTIL THE END TO PULL YOU FROM THAT HOLE. I'LL PRAY AND THINK OF YOU EACH DAY NO MATTER WHAT THE PEOPLE SAY, I KNOW WITH HELP, THE HURT CAN END THE NIGHTMARE WILL SURELY GO AWAY YOU WILL WIN THIS WAR, WITH WHICH YOU'RE STRIVING THIS WAR IS CALLED "SURVIVE THE SURVIVING." AS TEARS DROP FROM THIS BROTHERS EYES. I PROMISE YOU UNTIL I DIE WHATEVER IT TAKES YOU ARE NEVER ALONE I'M GLAD I CAN FINALLY SAY.......... WELCOME HOME!!!! I LOVE YOU, RANDY

CommentsThanks for making your pictures available. Can't say that they bring back good times, but they do recall good men. Spent my tour in the Central Highlands outside Pleiku, but didn't bring back a single picture (Got my body back intact and that was enough). I remember you (armor) guys well. Oh, did you eat dust. I remember once seeing a tanker get out of the tank all covered with that fine red, laterite dust of the dry season. The stuff was so thick on him you couldn't tell if he was white, black or whatever underneath. Then he took off his goggles, and I was expecting to see the skin around the eyes. I didn't. The guy was dirty red all the way to the eyeballs. So anyway thanks for the pics.

CommentsRandy -- I found your site by searching the web for "Cam Rahn Bay". I was an MQI (Military Quarantine Inspector) for the 14th PMU (Preventive Medicine Unit). I was stationed briefly at Long Binh and Saigon, but in October 1972 my unit assigned me to CRB when "peace is at hand". The 5 MQIs at CRB lived in the old Navy officers compound with the MACV advisers to the RVNs. I was at CRB during the pullout in early '73. Because I was the newest guy in the unit, I was the last to leave CRB. I was there through the 6th week of the 8 week pullout period. As a result, I WAS THE LAST AMERICAN AT CAM RAHN BAY during the war. -- Joe

CommentsI'm a Benjamin Tucker Anarchist. My take on war or any gov. action is pretty cold. And I don't know if you're a "patriot" to liberty or "country." Maybe it doesn't matter. Anyways, do you think that you were "enslaved" into war because the government got into trouble with another govt.? My question is not from the perspective of a hippie who protested to protest out of the war and then get a job in govt. telling people what to do(yea, "question authority"), nor is it from a person who felt the war was "immoral" relative] to any other war.

CommentsIt was fortunate happening upon your site; I'm a new guy on line. I served as the 1st platoon leader in A Co., 1st Bn, 5th Inf (mech) from June 70 to Sept 70. Our track (14) had a mini gun until it hit a mine in Aug in the Xuan Loc area. I guess our time overlapped; just different companies. I went over to 2nd plt, Co C, 3rd Bn, 22nd Inf (also 25th Div) until April 71 when the division left RVN. We operated south and east of Xuan Loc during that time. I'll always have a place in my heart for those guys in the 1st plt A-1-5 (sheepdog, saw dusr, brown man, hand job et al). Keep the faith.

Comments: Randy, You have a very impressive website. I booked marked it for future visits and also created a Link back to your site from mine. I liked both your content and how smartly you laid it out for easy veiwing. A "Top-Draw" job. I think some music would make it near perfect. I'm sure you have considered it. It's only a suggestion I make because the right song can make a page really come to life. Don Poss at Vietnam Juke Box can fix you up with some great sounds from the era. Again I "SALUTE" you excellent Website. Scott

Comments: oK, Thing I like best about your page, is the WALL, THAT IS SO BEAUTIFUL. Yes, it does take a lonnnng time to load, but wait is well worth it. Also, the photos are neat...bet you never thought, when you were taking them, that the whole world would see them? Ain't the Web great. Well, Randy, I am glad you made it back and have given us an insight to where our family members; our loved ones were. I, for one, learn more from people like you, about Vietnam, than I can thank you for. May my husband, Larry deLane Sandage, who was buried Aug. 8, 1981 at Gravesville, Ark. look over your shoulder and help you with the site, cause he would if he was here!! deLane won two Purple Hearts and the Bronze Star for service in Vietnam. He was an Army Photography...maybe someone out there knew him and his love for Art, Layout, and Photography and Copy...He would have loved your web site,Randy.

Comments: Randy: Congratulations from "Bobcat Bravo 2-6", Jan '66 - Jan '67. You did a real good job on your page. Hope you join one or both (as I did ) of the two 5th Inf Combat Veteran Orgs. I see you link to both sites and that's very good. Got an E-Mail from you a while back about my story at Don Poss' site. Don's a great guy and was very helpful when we started up[ the Bobcat Base Camp (BBC). Ray Landon is now the editor of the BBC and he can use all the help you might want to extend to him. His E-Mail address is listed at the BBC. Keep up the good work. Ted Jagosz, the first of many Bobcat Bravo 2-6's.

Comments: Aloha Randy, I think your page is great. Brought back many memories I though were lost. I was with the 2/12 "White Warriors" at Fire Base Pershing in 1969. You may have passed through there. I have had no luck on finding any info on the 2/12, it's like they disappeared. Many thanks again.

Comments: Hey Randy, what a grear page!!!!!!!!! Brings back old memories. Especially how dirty you could really get! Hard to believe those tracks could be driven dfrom the top. I suppose it's not much diffwerant from us [1967] riding on top instead of inside as the early birds did. Good ol American inginuity!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for sharing your pics. Most of mine have dissapeared or been damaged. I would like to know more about the track mounted minigun. That had to be awsume!!!!! Thanks again, Dave
