Comments: I really enjoyed the pictures and narrative. I've visited VN 3 different times. Not in wartime,I was born in '68. But my dad was an Army capt. and Dr. from '70-'71. I am married to a Vietnamese woman whom I met in Danang. It's lucky she was born in'76. Or I may never have met. Thank you for posting your site.

Comments: Hello:

I am a Vietnam vet (Long Binh, 1970-71) and I'm co-authoring a book about music during the Vietnam era. I'm interested in hearing from a broad range of Vietnam vets about the music that spoke to them during and after they were soldiers in Vietnam.

Please encourage our fellow 'Nam vets to contact me if they have an anecdote about a particular song that they would like to share. So far, songs like "We Gotta Get Out of This Place," "Ballad of the Green Berets," "The Letter" "Fortunate Son" and others have been talked about.

We'd welcome your contributions!

Many thanks,

Doug Bradley

Managed to see some of the plantaton on patrol and always worried in the Rubber plantation because of VC snipers. Great site you have Nice talkin to you.

Great site and very interesting. Thank-You. My client is a USMC Cpt Vet, 2 tours... sadly lost both bros in combat. Comments: Does "Nixon's Hired Guns, The Family Stone, Christ You Know it Ain't Easy, and Friends of Destruction" ring a bell? I remember when I sent that track to the rear with SGT Wood and told him I didn't want to see him till he got it to work (others had tried but failed). He had the held of a young Electrical Engineer (whose name I forgot) that had just been assigned to our unit. It sure help us on many occasions. There is nothing better than an 8 to 10 foot flame made up of 6000 rounds per minute to scare the heck out the other side. As you know 1st platoon always liked to run point. I remember "Jumping Jack Flash" as well as the others.I never took any pictures but the guys from time to time gave me some. I will try to send some to you. As always, you have done another great job. 1st LT Co B 1/5th, 25th INF DIV. 1970 (1-6)

(maybe it was the older guy in uniform!) who would have ever thought my 2nd marriage would be to a vet.... the best guy to be married to! i know i could never say i know what or how you men/women feel, cause i know "you had to be there". i must say Thank You & Welcome Home. Comments: I really enjoyed your site, sent it to alot of my friends. I was with Recon '68/'69. I'm also from Chitown but live in C'dale these days. A couple of foot notes. Those lateral extensions were developed by a guy named Don Bissonette. He was a friend of mine in battalion mait. We were hitting mine after mine on 7 alpha. He was a welder and made the first extensions for us; he received the Bronze star for his work. The naplam track was ours. While I was there we took it down to the delta, and delivered it to the Navy and put it on a barge in order to burn out river banks. We never saw it again. A question for you, what is on the front decks of those tracks? That stuff wasn't on our tracks, we just had a sheet of plywood, but I see 113's in Iraq with the same equipment. Drop me a line, I will be coming up to the city in the near future, maybe we can get together and have a beer. Carl

Comments: I was just surfing for award sites, and came upon yours. I have really enjoyed going through your pages and seeing some of the wawards that you have given, not just the awards but the thoughtful and wonderful words that you have added to the recipients of your awards. a lot of people do not realize just how veteran supporters mean to the veteran world. thank you, your site is nice. I am a Navy Wave, disabled from the Viet Nam Era and proud of it, I wouldn't trade my experience in serving my country for anything in the world. Wish I could go back and do it again, but having my site, is the next best thing to me. We have the greatest country in the world. God Bless America, our troops, our veterans and certainly the families, for all they have had to endure while their loved one or friend was off serving their country.

Comments: I served with the "Bobcats" from March, 1965, through August, 1967. I knew the unit in its extreme garrison form (parades and such at Schofield) as well as the training (Pohakaloa Training Area--PTA--on the Big Island for E&E training). And the relentless training marches up to Kole Kole pass (and the gas chambers, you can never forget the gas chambers). Went to 'Nam, with the rest of the 25th Inf. Div., on a troop ship. I drove the S-4 command track. When the S-4 was pissed at me, he made me drive 5 ton trucks converted into gasoline tankers (for our gas tracks--diesel tracks were arriving there as I was leaving). There were also the 3/4 ton trucks for convoy escort to and from Saigon. A rather varied, interesting, boring, and terrifying two tours.

Raymond Sweisford

Comments: This was one of those Holy Cow! hits on the web where you find someone who has sights and stories from your own past. I was with the 1st of the 5th Charlie company 1st platoon from late July of 70 through early May of 71. I processed in through Cu-chi, and then operated out of Xuan-Loc, Long-Bien, and then Tay-Nihn before getting transfered in country when the unit stood down. Each of your photos' looked like one of my own, just a little different group of faces and paintings on the Tracks (my track was "1-4 Friends of Distinction"). Thanks for your work in putting this together.

What happened in Vietnam? What did it look like? How did it smell? What happened to you? Vietnam veterans know firsthand the statistics, the heroism, the evil and the madness. They are the ones qualified to look inside the casket and identify the body for what it is–a dead boy killed in a war, who had a name, a personality, a story all his own.

Please drop in and see what I have already collected and if I'm lucky you will grace my heart and page with a story of your own.

Thanks in Advance,
Jenny
